Hi Violetta
Nasty.......yuck. I used to keep chickens and had the same problems with rats. They nibbled their feet and they stopped laying eggs. I used to put mice in the chicken coup as they only wanted warmth and a little corn. Rats & mice won't live in the same area. There was a persistant one though that I shot with a 12 bore shotgun......... Splat at rat.

For all you animal lovers I'm sorry but wild rats are disease ridden vermin that carry weals disease that affects humans. Fancy rats are different. They are beautiful, intelligent creatures.

Hope you have recovered....It's not pleasant thing to deal with x

My Grandma's cat does that. He catches birds, mice, and rabbits and leaves them at the front door. They are bringing home gifts to thankyou for being a good human to them. Gross but sweet I guess!

Yeah I love pet rats too.I want to buy one for Joci for his birthday. He wants a rat since I know him,but we never had the space, because I had my ginnea pig.But last year he passed away and now I feel that where ready for a new pet.
I know Joci will loove his present,Im planning to tie a huge bow with hearts on the rat when I give it to him.
But these wild rats I dont like at all...
Sheila my grandfather used to do the same thing to rats when they had cows and chickens...Our dogs at Jocis parents house are crazy for catching rats, when we repeat "wheres the rat?" three times they start digging like crazy, even when there is no rat there. If they catch one its like a trofy for them, they are so proud.

I lived on a farm so there were plenty of wild rats. My old cat used to catch them too and bring them home all smug and proud. He was a 'proper' cat. The two I have now are scared if it gets windy. Lol. Sometimes my old cat would bring rabbits too. We were never sure what was coming through the window with the cat. Pigeons were bad as it took ages cleaning up the feathers.

My friend had fancy rats and they are so easy to train. They used to climb round my daughter's neck and snuggle into her hair when she was little. They don't live very long though. Think she had hers for about 3 years which is a good age.

Yay, babies!! My Rhea kitty(she's a tortoiseshell) was pregnant, and I stayed at my parents' house this weekend past, when I got back, my fiance told me she'd had the babies but they all died. There were 4. My little girl hasn't remembered yet, so I'm not telling. When we moved here(we live in a farmland area, but our place is not a farm itself), we brought Rhea and a small male grey and white kitten-Wilson. He stayed about a week, then ran away. Sofi was so hurt, she still asks about him sometimes. He was her first own personal pet. See, before we moved, he was indoors. We now live with my fiance's parents, and they don't allow kitties inside(but their pack of worthless, garbage-eating, pottying in the floor dogs get to come in whenever they want), so Wilson had to be out there alone(well, with the other kitties...), and it was a new place. Daniel saw him in a neighbor's yard a while back, looking fat and happy, so he's OK.
Regarding the dead critter gifties that kitties give, I'd actually love it if Rhea could come in and kill some of these damned mice(pardon me). They get restless and noisy at night, and I'm sick of them!!! I'm dying to sneak Rhea in my room for a night, when no one else is here, and see how many mice she catches!!
