ok girls.....

I have a challenge for you all!!!

Can you explain to someone who does not really understand how she would go about setting up her own blog??

I'm computer literate and my boyfriend is an IT man (network engineer) so I can work most things out (with help of course)

But I do not understand how I start a blog, how do I decorate it?? how do I make buttons? C'mon ladies (and gents) help me out.

Hi Kimmi!

I personally think the easiest blog programe to use is Blogger. The blogs are free and you use a google account to sign in. Once you have a blogger act the steps are pretty straight forward for making it go LIVE. Blogger has aprox 20 templates in different colours and style which you can pick.

I use html to design my blog and buttons.

Check out shabbyblogs.blogspot.com for some information, that's what taught me all the tips!

Other than that trial and error. If you want to set up a blog and give it a go, give me a hollar I'm always happy to help!

It's mostly like what Minnie said Kimmi, trial and error. Though blogger doesn't have really nice templates (my opinion) so if you want something a little more your style you can go to this site to pick out some nice backgrounds, banners etc. It also has tutorials for other things and it's free:

If you attempt to use this site, start with free backgrounds and banners. Apparently they are in the works for providing free templates specifically for blogger ( or blogspot.com) and don't be intimidated about setting up a google acct., it will take you to that step when you click to create a blog and you can make as many different blogs as you want.

I have to wait until I get home to verify my blogspot account from my home email (can't access from work)
I have been on to the website you suggested www.thecutestblogontheblock.com and I've found some lovely things to use =)

You're right blogger templates are naff! I have a computer whizz friend who helps me out with html. A good tutorial for making your own buttons is: http://oikology101.blogspot.com/2008/09/make-your-own-button-for-your-blogger.html

Perhaps we could add some blogs buttons to our sites? That way we can hopefully attract more followers by advertising on each others' sites.
