who doesn't love cheesy christmas songs? I know I do. I am buddist, I do the christmas thing for my family, anyway most people don't even know what christmas is really about

I hate it because people only care about the presents, Santa Claus and material things.
Most people do not understand the true meaning of Christmas.
I accept that some people are excited about Christmas because they do eat great food and decorate they home...
But i just dont care about that. I am no longer a child, and now i seek the true meaning of Christmas. I guess it is family, and glory of the Christ's birth.
I dont know. I'm trying to be a philosopher. xD

I love the Christmas spirit...but lately I've felt weird celebrating Christmas cuz I'm not REALLY a Christian, I'm Agnostic (the lazy man's Atheist...haha)

But what else should I celebrate? Three people in my family - including me - are Agnostic, and I'm actually considering becoming a Wiccan just because it's the religion that makes the most sense to me.

Anyway...off topic.

I do love Christmas! I love watching all the Christmas specials and giving presents and spending time with family!

Marieke - that's true.

Eve - that's a fair enough comment, I just love spending the time with my family mostly, because we are all so busy it's getting harder an harder to spend proper quality time together and I love seeing my little nephews similing faces. Althougb one Christmas I would LOVE to volunteer my time to something like a soup kitchen, it must be so fulfilling to know that you've helped homeless people have a safe Christmas!!

Courtney - I get what you mean, I'm not a Christian either, so it does sometimes feel that we are tagging onto a holiday maybe? I mean I understand what the whole basis of Christmas actually is, which is the birth of Christ, but I tend to waive that thought, as I am also an Athiest. I just sort of picture Christmas as like the one day a year where peace is all around the world - maybe that's too idealistic?? BTW what excatly is the difference between an Athiest and an Agonistic? I'm slightly confused over the concept...

KT - I like decorating too, I think shiney stuff makes people happy (like TINSEL!!).

Melissa K. - Sounds yummy!!

Michelle G. - I love cheesy Christmas songs!! I'm listening to some whilst studying (which means I wasn't here!! LOL), see this is the hold CO+K has on me!! lol

Maybe there is no one unified meaning of Christmas? Maybe Christmas symbolises the nicest thing we can think of?? I don't know, I'm making stuff up now...
Well I'm very pleased to hear abuot the lovely things you enjoy at Christmas (or not), it's nice to have other perspectives.

So if Christmas isn't your favourite holiday, what one is?

I think Christmas is a bit double: I don't like the artificial, commercial aspect of it: the ugly plastic santas hanging out of windows; the people who don't make their home cosy but a sign of cheap capitalism. But real cosiness, the family round the Christmas tree, a nice feast meal, decorating with diy stuff and handing out cookies to my classmates, thát's a good Christmas. Intimate. Although I love my large family, I don't like being with too many people, so the parties are a bit double for me too, but I can always enjoy myself (but hey, lots of tasty food, who wouldn't enjoy himself?). Just really a nice winter feeling: when it is too cold to go outside and you just want to watch feel good films and drink hot choco. And then a bit of Frank Sinatra on the background while dining... lovely.

Gingerbread Girl - I <3 your name!! Also, I always kinda see it as this - Agnostics honestly don't care about religion. I don't. I've never felt a need for it, nor do I like the conflict that occurs over it. I just stay out. Atheists have more of an opinion, in that they don't believe in God. They don't think a God exists, and that is what they believe.
