The most I spent on shipping a swap was about 5 bucks plus some change, but it was because it was in a box and i went a little over board with the goodies. Most of the time, if you're in a swap, the hosts are pretty good about partnering you with someone in the same country as you if/when you request it. It's cheaper to send something in an envelope than in a box, so keep that in mind when you are making stuff and how much you make. Oh yeah, WELCOME TO CO&K!!

Well if you are like me and live in Australia and have to post internationally the most I have spent on a swap was $20. Even doing a small package within Aus was $7. I think when I posted 2 phone hangers in my very first swap to America it cost me $8. Postage is normally the killer when it comes to swaps. (not that its going to make me stop swapping though Tongue). As long as you keep in touch with your partner they will understand if you need a bit more time to save for the postage ^_^ it's happened a few times before.

UK postage isn't too bad. I try not to make things that are too heavy or bulky or likely to break, especially if its going abroad but obviously its hard sometimes and depends on the theme. I think the most I've spent is about £6. Jiffy bags seem to be pretty good for posting and wrapping things in tissue paper seems to keep things lightweight and well protected.

If your budget is tight have the swap host partner you with someone close by. It never hurts to ask.
I spent almost 20 bucks once when it was international!!
