Belly Dancing Charms

What exactly is not happening?

I'm attaching the charms by hand. The problem is that after attaching the charms in groups of 3 the charms seem to snag the fabric and fall off. Are the charms to heavy?

The charms I've seen so far are mostly made of some kind of aluminum. I don't know what your charms are made of but they might be too heavy. Have you tried to sew them on one by one? Maybe they won't snag this way. Is it possible to share a picture of how it looks and the materials you are using? Maybe then I can help a little bit more.

I sewed them one by one this time and stitched them close together but not in the same stitch as before and they held this time

Thanks for the advice. I wish I had pictures to post but I can only use my webcam right now, but the fabric is a cotton fabric with a thin tulle overline.

Perhaps in the future you could try attaching the charms to some ribbon or binding then sewing that onto the fabric, that may be more manageable. Glad you got it sorted in the end.

One of the dangers of belly dancing is that if you're doing it right, things tend to jingle and fall off! ;)

It's considered a "token" for the one who finds it.

Have some backups and apply as needed.

maybe use thicker thread. i made an outfit and i have a HUGE (like 2 inches tall by at least an inch wide) metal charm on the top and it hasn't fallen off yet
