new to sewing. please help.

i got a new elna 2600 sewing machine for my birthday. i've never like sewing but my mum said i'm too artistic, she like my designs, i'm gonna learn wether i like it or not.
well, i'm 15 and don't know of anyone who sews, our school doesn't have a home ec class at all. and neither of my parents have any idea. i really have to learn on my own.
i don't know ANYTHING, so please anyone if you could please help with tips or how-to's that you've picked up, they'd really help.
thanks

I agree with babydrea. Start off with some basic projects first, ones that don't have too many curves. And also try instructables.com for some sewing hints. Good luck Happy

I had free instruction with my new machine so that may be an option.I agree keep it simple ,relax and enjoy.

I know this might sound idiotic, but reading the instruction manual might help a lot!
