4 ply in uk

I want to knit a project on this website. Burger coasters. It calls for 4-ply but it needs to be strong colours, not baby pastels. Any ideas as to where this may be available, I have looked at all sorts of websites and can only find pastels. I've tried using DK on smaller needles but it just doesn't look right. Any thoughts or advice gratefully received. J x

John Lewis and Hobbycraft usually sell 4 ply in brighter colours. I find that Rowan yarns make lots of bright colours although they usually end up quite expensive. Patons do some bright coloured 4 ply but im not sure if they do all the colours you want. I find that if you can get to an independent yarn store then they are usually more than happy to order in yarns in the colours you need.

Hope this helps

Try Deramores (www.deramores.com) I know they have lots of 4 ply yarns and many are in really bright colours. DMC do a 4 ply cotton in 29 shades some of which are really bright and they are available on there. Debbie Bliss Rialto also comes as a 4ply and some of the shades are quite bright. They have also just started to sell Red Heart cotton which comes as a 4 ply and although the colour choice isn't as broad the colours are really bright. Failing that I have used Schoeller and Stahl, it is a cotton that is beautifully soft but really tough so great for coasters, facecloths or anything that is going to be washed a lot. I buy mine on ebay usually. There are some really good little independent sellers with very competitive prices. Just make sure it is listed as new. Happy hunting x
