The Ultimate Knitters Thread.

Since I don't have a knitters group I'm gonna use this as a help resourse! (and we can keep all knitted related stuff in here to keep it neat for Chels haha).

So here's my problem! Patterns and books assume you know what you're doing but i dont know whether when someone knits something (made up or from a pattern) if it just ends up all together or if they have to sew seams. Cuz I just knit in 2D and then sew stuff together. I hate it when these things aren't obvious.

If you're making a jumper or something you have to sew it all together.

I know now Happy The knitting book I have is actually quite good i've never looked at it properly I always skip important things and just think 'yeh this is right' with stuff like this but I looked through it so. I'm going to knit socks though I know you can make those all in one, need some dpns though because i cant find a knitting pattern with circular needles and I'd never be able to work out what to do unless it said instructions for circular needles.

I have been meaning to knit socks for ages now. I'm afraid!! I haven't used dpns yet and I think all the stitches will fall off Happy
I'm knitting a baby blanket at the moment and it's turning out lovely Happy When I find out what sex it is, I am going to either sew coloured buttons on, or embroider something on...maybe Happy

Is it your baby?

There's no easy way to ask that question.

"Is it your baby? "

God no! Roma, I should have said, it's a friends baby Happy She is due at the beginning of May, so I must get a move on! Have to post it to the UK and you never know how long things will take.
It's a kind of lemony cream colour and a limeish green in stripes with a nice stitch Happy

I bought some circular needles for a hat once and had no idea what I was doing, I started the stitches, but they wouldn't come off the wire and onto the needle, the bump between the wire and needle was too big for the stitches! I have no clue lol

I really want to learn how to knit- I've knitted very simple scarfs before but that was years ago so I've long forgotten, I'll see if I can borrow a book on knitting from the library.

google and youtube knitting, there are so many knitting tutorials but sometimes you need to speak to knitters in more informal way. My mum can knit and has knitted jumpers and things but she always needed help so can't help me that much Happy she taught me though Happy
