Stitch n Bitch Bolero 'Short and Sweet' project help!!

I know this is a long shot but I'm attempting the bolero project in the Stitch and Bitch book, hit row 2 and got stuck >.< Anyone able to help??

The instruction is:
Ch4 (counts as dc, ch1), dc in first ch-1 space (counts as first V-st), *ch2, sc in next ch-2 space, ch 2 sk next ch-2 space, (4dc, ch 1, 4 dc) in next ch-1 space of V - st (shell made), ch , sk next ch-2 space, sc in next ch-2 space, ch-2, V st-st in ch-1 space of next V-st; rep from * across, turn.

I've chained 4, made a double crochet in the first chain space, but does this mean the chain i've just made or from the row below?? Then when I chain another 2 and single crochet in the next 'ch-2 space', again is that the chain ive made or the row below??

Thank youuuuuu

xx

I haven't seen this pattern, so i don't know for sure, but I think its likely that you are connecting your dc to the chain spaces in your previous row. If you try it you can compare it to the picture in the book, (if there is one) and see if it matches up.

Hope this helps.

It's the chain space in the row below. Generally when you have a row below then when it tells you to crochet into a chain it will be one in that lower row.

I've had my eye on making that bolero for a while, hope it turns out ok.

I just wondered how you're getting on with this as I've just realised I'm making the same shrug. I'm onto the body part of it now. I'm making the med size but I had to add extra stitches onto the armpit as they were too small. It seems to be working out ok at the moment but we'll see when I add the sleeves.
