the other day i saw jewellery /keyrings etc made from beer /colddrink bottle tops. The tops are painted a picture put into the inside of the bottle top and then some sort of transparent chemical is painted over the picture (i think) which hardens and a chain or strings is added to make a necklace or keyring. can anyone pls provede instructions for this project? i would be most greatful. many thanks

I have made these before - they are super fun! If you saw this in a jewelry store they probably used jewelry grade resin. I use "ice" brand resin when I make mine, though I have heard you can use clear nail polish too! There are several keys to success with resin - I wish I had time to write them all down for you, but here are the best: you will probably need to buy this online: the craft stores sell a resin but it is not jewelry grade, and just as expensive. If you use paper in your design, make sure you mod podge it on the front and back to seal the image and so it won't run. If you want certain pieces of your design to stay in place instead of float around, add a small dot of mod podge to the item and stick it where you want. It should only take a few minutes to dry. When you mix the resin be careful to mix it EXACTLY as the directions state, and you'll be fine. Don't rush it or you may end up with a mess! For more details, check out You tube! good luck!

I use resin for my stuff but you have to be precise when you measure out both parts otherwise it won't cure properly also you're supposed to wear a mask so you won't get resin poisoning, one of my teacher's had to go to the emergency room after she got resin poisoning but she was working with a large amount of it.

I love making those!!!! Happy Another alternative to resin that you can use is 3D Crystal Lacquer. It's water based, so it's non toxic. And you just squeeze it out of the bottle so it's really easy to use!
