Wanting to rearrange my craft room

In my apartment, I have a room all to myself for crafting. It's about average sized, so 8x12 feet with a closet that's about a foot and a half deep about 7 or 8 feet long. I have already filled the closet with my old prints from when I was an art major.

I have two 2x6 foot white tables, one that I use for sewing, and one that I have soapmaking stuff on, and I have an ironing board as well, and they're all kinda spread out around the border of the room. The center of the room is pretty wide open, and I have my mead-brewing equipment in front of one of the closet doors.

I'm trying to figure out a better way of organizing and arranging things so I can turn part of the room into a little library for myself, but I don't know how to best go about it. The room is wide enough that I could place both white tables side-by-side across the back wall where the window is, but I have to consider that we have a plant that needs the light, and there isn't anywhere I can really move it to.

I'll post a little rough layout of the room to hopefully give you all some ideas. My fiance has one of his fixer-upper bikes in the room but I'm hoping I can get him to take it back to his mom's house so I'll have more real estate for my soon-to-be library space.

Here's the current layout, almost to scale.

I'll puzzle out some potential layouts to try to figure out what's going to work best.

I got this as an idea. I still have to make or buy bookcases, and I would have to get a new chair for the sewing table.

I have a lot of storage unit thingies, but they're all under the tables. I might try to clear out the closet a little to make way for putting some of the storage things in there.

I'm still open to ideas because I feel like this one isn't quite the best.

Where are the windows? That would affect were I put would put my furniture.

However looking at it, I like the second idea the best. I like how the bookcases are placed in relation the chair. It gives it a library feeling and then you have the craft area on the right.

The window is across the wall with the plant on it, and it's pretty much right in the middle of the wall.

The first picture is the current layout, which isn't at all library-friendly. The second is my first idea for a new layout. I just don't think it's the best yet.

From the look of it, I think you have a great idea with the placement of the tables and bookcases. I like the way you put the tables together and like I said earlier - I like how the chair is in between the bookshelf - which is a good use of a corner space (I always find them so difficult!)

One simple option is to move the bookcase in the corner and move the chair next to the plant, so you could make the most out of the window light.

Can the ironing board be stored upright and taken it out when you need it. If so, the plant can go there and you would have some extra room for something else (another bookshelf or desk?)

The ironing board is definitely going to be folded away and stored until I need it. Sadly, the plant can't really move until I convince my fiance to help me rearrange the living room.
There's actually a mirror on the back of the door that bounces the natural light around really well, but I'm definitely going to experiment with the position of the chair for reading. I'm probably going to have to get a lamp though since I mostly read at night.

I might have to visit the vintage/antique furniture store some time soon!

I stayed home from my morning classes sick today, and despite being lightheaded and hazy-minded, I rearranged my sewing room a little. I had enough room to move the sewing table to the opposite wall, and my mead station is under the soaping table. I had enough space on the wall to break the tables apart and fit two of my storage towers between them, and stacked up more storage on top. The floor is really free now, save for the corner with the bike and a couple boxes of stuff I have to go through. I think if I don't get to it today, I am going to tackle the closet next week and hopefully have no clutter beyond the stuff I use regularly.

I have way more space than I anticipated, especially after folding up the ironing board and resting it against the corner by the closet. All I need to do now is get bookshelves and a new sewing chair.
