But does it easy to wash if pads are made from cloths?
if i use it, i'll get itchiness and its still not comfortable. Even if i'm wearing kotex because the pads made from cotton. But now i use herbal pads. its cool, comfortable, it absorb liquid even water so its still feel comfortable even using it for a long hours.Change it only when it's full and periods will finished earlier. And its eco-friendly ;)

I never even heard of cloth pads until now. South Africa's really behind with stuff like that. It sounds like a great idea to save money and be more eco friendly so I think I will try making my own =]

There was a pretty great tutorial on how to make cloth pads on Threadbanger a while ago.

It's something that I've considered making, and I think I will at some point.

Cloth toilet paper, though... that just sounds bad!

Go to www.craftster.org in bath and beauty there's a huge topic on cloth pads, with instructions, patterns, pros and cons.

I used a Divacup and love it especially since I am a backpacker and am outside half the time when I get my period. I am a light bleeder so then hand sewed (didn't have a machine at the time) cloth pantyliners and have been using those and I have been impressed at how much easier and better to use the cloth pantyliners are! Still use tampons and reg pantyliners occasionally (usually for emergencies i.e. didn't realize my period was coming)! So cool!

I also wanted to add. That I just toss mine in my child's cloth diaper pail. I've also heard of some women buying/ making their own wet bag for them and presoaking them in peroxide. But since I wash the cloth diapers anyhow, I just toss them in there easy peasy Happy

I bought luna pads a while ago and I do use them, but quite infrequently as they need to be changed pretty regularly. I love them for sleeping in though as they are so much more comfortable. I also live in a shared flat, where we take each others washing out of the machine but thankfully no-one has discovered and asked me what they are yet! I'd like to try making them but like Sparrowfae I don't have a sewing machine so it might have to wait.

I read the article Jen G. posted. This article is discussing fecal matter left in underwear. That is normal, even if you can't see, it it is there. That is why we wash our clothes. The article states to use hot water 130-150F and bleach to wash underwear. That is the same way you would wash these pads.
