All the things I saw you make looked so delicious!
My sister and I made some peanut butter blossoms from the recipe we found here on CO+K:
http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/peanut_butter_blossom_cookies
all the broken bits are from lots of hands rummaging through the box and they were very brittle

What does ichigo daifuku taste like? I saw the recipe and if you didn't have dried anko powder, it said to use bean paste. Before I read it, the picture looks like a snowball with a strawberry in it dessert. After reading the recipe, I don't know if it is a dessert or what! The bean paste threw me.

I made a birthday cake tonight =) it's a normal sponge with buttercream in the middle, and on top I've decorated it to look like a cookie (the girl whose birthday it is is addicted to cookies), so it's brown icing with white and milk chocolate buttons on =)

Whoa, I didn't know we had American style frosting.

Do you mean like the kind we buy in the store that comes in a little plastic container?

Whoa! I feel like I've fallen into Sweet Tooth Land.
I'm diabetic so I've moved all the carbs and sweet stuff into one cabinet in my kitchen so I don't have to see them. I use those items very sparingly...too tempting for me.

I learned this from my Grandmother-in-law from her farm in South Dakota, USA.

American frosting for cakes is 1 box (453 g) powdered confection pure cane sugar, 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter(salted is okay), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 cup half and half (or you can substitute a mix of half milk and half cream. Beat with wire whip or mixer scraping the bowl often. If you want it thicker use less half and half, if thinner use more half and half.

I'm bringing this back to the front page to ask the Americans a question! In American recipes it always says 'One cup of *insert ingredient*' well how big is this cup because I have lots of different sizes of cups lol! How much is one cup?

O and Roma sent me a recipe for 'American style' frosting and I found a video on how to make it on about.com so weeee.
