use blankets for sleeping in the winter and keep the heat down at night. if you can program it... set it to come on half an hour to an hour before you wake up, so that it's warm when you get up to get dressed... and to go off (or significantly lower, at least) about an hour to half an hour before you go to bed so that you're warm getting into the covers, but won't be wasting energy keeping you warm when you've got lots of cozy blankets to do that job Happy Keep a nice fuzzy robe and slippers by the bed in case you have to get up for the bathroom in the night.
If you're going away for the day/weekend/etc., turn it OFF... you can wear a sweater til it warms up when you get home!

Not sure if they have this overseas, but in Canada we have something called the Good Food Box and its my saviour!!! For $17 I get a huge box of veggies that will last me and my roommates two weeks.

I make all my christmas, birthday, etc, gifts, that way I can spend about $20 on supplies for a lot of gifts instead of hundreds on all the gifts.

Thermostats that control the heat in your house are awesome!! If you drop the heat to around 18 celsius in the day and at night, and only raise it to about 21 when people are at home it saves a ton of money. (I have baseboard heaters in my apartment, so I turn them down everyday before I leave to class).

read newspapers and magazines online. they have the same content.

plus some grocery stores have printable cupons on their websites! and you can view their flyers as well

take a resuable grocery bag in your purse. those bags are able to fold to a small size and will fit into your bag. that way you will use less plastic.

Don't accept flyers in your post box.

- I always go to local farmers, they usually sell crops of salad and cucumbers for 25 eurocents a piece!
- If you have clothes you are bored off, or that became too small, trade them with friends. Host a fun night where everyone can trade their clothing! Make sure it dont stink and is not broken though. XD And if everyone brings some food or drinks, you dont have to spend a lot on that either.
- In grocery stores, usually there is a place for the products that have a quick-coming expiration date.. if you go to the grocery store every day, like me, for milk and such, it doesnt hurt to buy those. Those products usually last one or two more days and are 50% off! Who cares if you eat it the same day anyway!
- Try the products in the grocery stores which arent the so called A-brands. For some things, cheaper alternatives taste just the same, and in some cases even better! Not all of them are, though. But for example, cookies of a less expensive brand can be quite tasty too. Saving 10 cents on each product doesnt seem like a lot, but if you buy a car full of groceries every week, it is much!

- And ofcourse, dont use the car that often. Get a bike or walk! It really saves and is good for your health, and the environment! We have a car but we barely use it now. Only when it's really freezing and we have to go a long distance.
- If you get a lot of flyers, give them to some kids when they come over. Pass them glue, scissors and some blank paper and they'll have fun for hours. It saves on games.
- Buy video games on ebay, second hand. And when you get bored of them you can sell them again! I do that with nintendo DS games.
- Before you go out to buy anything, keep in mind: Do I really need it? Does someone near me owns it so I can have/buy/borrow? Can I make it myself?
- Instead of going out for dinner with your man/wife/best friend, cook a meal together. It's fun to do and more personal. And it saves.
