What to do with glass jars?
Whew, it took a while for me to figure out how to start a new topic ... But nevermind that, I managed to do it and this is my question to you
A lot of things that we buy, like instant coffee, pesto sauce, pickles, etc, come packaged in glass jars, resulting in our home being full of them. So much so that my mother has started throwing them away, which I find wasteful but I cannot find a lot of uses for them. I've been through this site and many others, and like the idea of glass jars holding photos but I need more ideas for what to do with them. If anyone has similar experience or has any suggestions, please, share them with me
Things I have used glass jars for are candle holders (preferably decorated on the outside with paper, paint,... ) and snow globes. The snow globe failed though, it leaked... But I'm sure there's a lot more to do with it.
This is one off favorite projects I've done
I have made a bunch more since these and in a bunch of different sizes, which looks cool when they are all together because it looks like a little mushroom patch.
Sanne, thanks for the idea Maybe try superglueing the lid of the snowglobe on so it doesn't leak use a rubber band somehow ...
Pam, aww, such cute little mushrooms I'd try this exact thing, making the mushrooms into little gnome houses But I have to get my hands on some paint first ...
I understand that you find it wasteful to throw away useful things but old jars get recycled into new ones. So, throwing jars away isn't exactly a waste. Of course it's nice to craft with them or use them for storage but you shouldn't 'pollute' your home. This is actually advice to myself because i'm collecting empty toilet rolls like crazy, corks too actually.
however I have two good ideas with jars:
Plan B, yes, I've seen both of these ideas and I like them very much
I see I've exaggerated a bit ... It isn't like our apartment is literally full of glass jars, but I have about 20 of them and would very much like to put them to use. When I have too much, I will of course have to get rid of some one way or another, but I don't think that will be very soon It just annoys me very much that my mother throws away something that can be reused.
So far I've used a few as storage for buttons, hair pins etc.
I saw this thing where you break a glowstick and put the liquid on the inside of the jar, add glitter, and then shake it and then you have these cool jar lights. You could also add wings to a pompom, hang it form the top by a fishing line, and add glitter to have a fairy in a jar Or you could make your own jam and sauces and store them in the jars. Store craft supplies in them, keep a mini terrarium, put a caterpillar inside for a pet and release it when it's a butterfly. Paint them and make cute flower pots. Lol I'll just look up something for you
Some of these look interesting
Terrariums in jars make great inexpensive gifts:
if you have like small children around like little cousins or the little neighbor kid just get some brightly colored tissue paper and some watered down glue and just paste the the paper in a random order and cut a slit in the top of the lid and there you have it a pretty jar bank (or as i like to call it the fun stuff jar) or make and sell them idk
This is super easy, and it only takes a few minutes not including drying time! Plus the end result is super amazing!
You could make a cookie mix in a jar and give it to someone as a gift. There are loads of different flavors and people love them.
Or you could make these cool gift ideas. I made them for my parents this Christmas and they both loved them. It's a cute, fun and creative way to get reuse those jars you have and they are fun to make too!
store diy wax in them and heat in the microwave any time you wanna get rid of unwanted hair
