shrink paper?

You guys know that paper they sell that you can print images from your computer out on and or draw on it with marker and then put it in the oven and it shrinks and hardens?
I've tried using it cuz it makes really cool looking stuff, like making a pair of earrings with you own face on them or something funny like that....The problem I have with the whole shrinky dink thing is that I cant cut it! It pretty much tears and breaks? is that normal. I've seen people make really cool stuff with perfect edges. How are they cutting it to make it look so nice? Any one got any tips?

Thanks for the help!!!

This sounds to me like you are baking it before cutting! Well, if you do so - don't! ;) Usually you cut it after the color has dried, easy just like normal paper. Does this help you??

hahah no!!!! But thanks for trying to help!... I don't cut it after baking... I cut it before. It's not so hard to do lines and such it's detail work that keeps all teared and weird, and on to of the cutting it ever really comes out flat, I don't know maybe the whole shrink paper is just not for me, i feel like the shrink gods are against me!!!!!

I think it might also have something to do with the brand of paper i got...It was from a ink for printers place, and i left it in my car during winter, so maybe something strange happened to it...

Oh ... that would have been soooo funny hehe

I never have heard of problems cutting that paper (much more of baking it - mine always gets horrible) - I guess it happened because of the winter holiday it has spent in your car. Maybe it was too cold? Interesting Happy

I think i might just try buying some new stuff, maybe a different brand. But not today since there is 4 inches of snow!!!! even thought yesterday it was like 50 and sunny???? strange weather..

That's never happened 2 me when i use shrink paper, but sometimes it doesn't cut v. well, so try using special craft scissors with sharp ends and cut out carefully using the tip of the scissor instead of the whole thing.

Can you put shrink plastic through your printer?

Some of the things I've seen seem to good to be hand drawn.

Could you tell me what this paper is called. I live in Tasmania, so it might not be available here, but I would like to try it and I guess it would help if I knew the correct name.

In America it's called Shrinky Dinks, or at least that's brand name.

In Britain we call it Shrink Plastic.

I guess in other places they call it Shrink Paper.

If you ask someone in a craft shop I'm sure they'll help you.
