There aren't many good scrapbooking shops in London but about twice a year at Alexandra Palace/kensington olympia they have a stamp and scrapbooking/stitch show where all the best suppliers are under one roof selling their stuff - I really stock up then! Ebay is always good and I also find some great bargains in the pound shop!

I keep everything I'm given as well - like wrapping paper and bows off presents and re-use them for scrapbooking/card making! Even the labels off some clothes are really cute to use as tags!

hobby craft has 10% student discount now Happy
i think all places should do discount for students or loyalty card/perks.
some small shops that have the same 2 or 3 people working in them usually give the people they recognise/know well some kind of extra or discount, i think this isnt fair on everyone else.

Jo-Ann gives a 15% discount to students, and has started a 10% discount program for other organizations too.

I usually shop at the Genral store because they have a lot of craft sewing supplies for a dollar. I shop at Michaels for yarn, and because they always have a coupon for 40% or 50% off one item. I shop at Jo-Ann when they have a sale on fabric, felt, and buttons. Other stores I get supplies from are Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, 99c stores, and Big Lot.

Two of my towns local craft shops Nowrich road craft shop and Craftmania offer loyalty cards where you get a stamp for every pound spent then they add up to money off when you've spent a certain amount and one of them which is right on the corner of the street i live on offers a £10 yearly membership which entitle you to 10% off everytime you buy from them, which is cost effective if you go through alot of craft supplies in a year.

The shop Rapheals where I get my crystal beads and quirky beading supplies in my towns highstreet give me a discount usually because im a regular customer and usually tend to buy quite alot at a time.

I try to find fabric at thrift stores in Canada. I will buy from fabric stores when I am in the States (I can't pass up their selection.) I have bought beads from ebay, but don't do that after being scammed. I was sold black plastic instead of onyx. That was a horrible experience. I use glass beads that I find locally for crafting. I have given up on making jewelry unless I can get to Michaels craft store and buy genuine stones.

Thats such a shame you got scammed on e-bay Corvus. I don't buy much from there, but I was in search of a crocheted vintage waistcoat pattern recently, and the only one I could find was on e-bay.

My parents moved a couple of months ago and my mum chucked out her box of knitting/crochet patterns that she has had for years, without telling me. Gutted! Who knows what gems were in there.

I do love a rummage in the remnant bin at Fabricland, they sell it half price! Sometimes I walk away empty handed but mostly overloaded with fabric I never knew I needed.
I have recently (re)discovered a haberdashery in Bristol but I try to only go there when I NEED something, otherwise I end up buying too many bits and pieces.
I don't have the creative mind for bead/jewellery work and am envious of all you who make some amazing pieces!

I get all of my supplies online at this site http://factorydirectcraft.com/factorydirectcraft_blog/ the prices are reasonable and having it delivered to my door keeps me going back. It also has a neat blog section with a lot of how to projects.

Tracy L : Fabricland is on Bond Street (? I think!) round the back of the Macdonalds that is next to Cabot Circus. There is also a fabric stall in St Nicholas Market, where the haberdashery (and also a craft shop) is.

And a new craft stall in the galleries sounds interesting.
