Prom Dress

So I already firgured out how to make the top of this dress. But how do you make the skirt? Does it involve making a full skirt and then cutting it or is this a certain typ of skirt pattern I should be following.

Could I follow a tutu pattern?

Hmm....my guess would be a type of pattern. Or you probably could do a full skirt and cut it. Look like there is lots of tulle. This dress is really freaking gorgeous, by the way.

well id say look to see if you can find a pattern but i wouldnt recommend making a full skirt first. it would be waste time and fabric. since its so "messy" looking (in a good way Happy) you could kind of free form it. like make a simple skirt and add a bunch of tulle and other such fabrics to it until it has the fullness and look that you want. as for the back part id probably go with making it sort of separate and then attaching it when its all done.

Do you think this skirt is considered a tutu with a train?

you may can use like I long cape pattern just adjust the measurements for the waist or use a short skirt pattern combine with a train pattern if you have an old bed sheet of large piece of fabric cut a whole in the middle and slide it on a have someone cut it to the shape you need and use it as your own pattern
hope this helps

Have you ever made those fabric blossoms that are all messy, they are usually made of chiffon or tulle? Or have you seen them at the stores? Thats what I thought of when I saw the skirt part of the dress. Not that I thought it looked like it had blossoms on it, but the way you make the pieces that make up the blossom, individualy they look messy and just like cruppled together fabric.

Anyway I thought that if you made the base layer for the skirt, and then made individual bunched/rouched pieces, you could then play with the placement and when you got the look you wanted hand sew them into place. After you had the desired ammount on you could go back though and add the longer pieces, that look like long thin feathers maybe, or w/e.

I would deffinetly do it in layers though, the base layer of skirt form, then messy bunched fabric, then the longer bits.

If you have no idea what Im'm talking about with the fabric blossoms PM me and Ill send you an ebook I have on how to make them and you can get an idea for what I mean XD
Best of luck!!
