Hair Dye

I've noticed that in all the vashion magizines teen vouge, style, etc and on the runways, anna sui, marc jacobs... they've been using neon streaks in the models hair. I'm so excited because i'm going to die a couple streaks of purple in my auburn hair tonight and my blond friend is putting in pink streaks. We bought some semi-permenant dye called one n' only i think, and i was wondering if anyone knew how well this works. And how long it lasts because the i only want to experiment not permantly dye my hair!

Bright colours never permanently dyes hair, especially if you're not bleached.

It stays in bleached hair for quite a long time comparitively to normal hair- I'd say about 2 weeks in bleached.

In normal hair it'll only last two or three washes.

it depends on the dye and as roma said if you've bleached your hair before hand. I put pink at the ends of my hair once, bleached on already dyed red hair dye then pink over, it faded VERY quickly. These models probably had fake bits of coloured hair put in or something very expensive or someone very good at it doing it for them. If you dye it don't wash it for 2 days to give the dye chance to absorb into the hair. I think the purple will work with your hair being auburn and the pink streaks will definatly work in your blonde friends hair, but as roma said these dyes are never permenant.

I dye my hair quite regularly with bright colours and they only tend to last 1-2 weeks if i'm lucky. They tend to fade quite quickly so you probably don't need to worry about it permantly dying your hair.
Seeing as you said to 'tonight', i'm assuming you've done it, did it work out well?

I second what everyone has said. I have light hair but dye it black, and have had red and purple streaks in it before quite a lot and it usually lasts the 2-3weeks of top colour. Have fun though

Yeah I put in pink streaks over my black hair because it was a special dye that lifted colour and put more in, it came out red but was nice, that didn't last more than two weeks. It'll totally depend on the product and your hair

haha when I did mine with the bleach I left it on for aaaaages because I didn't want it to be orange, god my hair was frazzled. I actually started shaking when I was putting the bleach on because all the hair taboos I've heard of involve bleach! I also left the pink on longer then it said. It took me about 7 hours to do it I can't remember why I didn't leave the bleach on THAT long.

When I do pink it takes forever. You have to wash it first with a certain shampoo, then dry it (which takes 45 minutes or so for me), then put that cap on and pull out all the hair (which takes about an hour), then put the dye on (which takes about 15 minutes), then leave it for 50 minutes then wash it again. So overall it's like three hours!
