Green hair: What do you think?

Okay, so I have green hair now.. What do you think?

Volume 40 developer + blue bleach powder = yellow hair. (YIKES!!!)

Then I dyed it with crazy colour pine green. I took the photo after 2 washes.

Small question... I wore gloves when I dyed it but how do you stop all of your body turning green when you shower??

Also, whenever I touch my hair my fingers turn slightly green!
Is there any way to stop that?

I'm still really happy with the result though =]

Edit: Sorry the photo's huge. I don't know how to scale it down a notch :/

I have never colored my hair, but I would assume washing your hair in a sink rather than taking a full blown shower would work better. Also a stainless steal sink would be better than a porcelain one since those stain easily.

if you put your head down and wash it from like the neck forward, the dye shouldn't get on your body
and my dye's never rubbed off on my hands from my hair (after shampooing) .. that's odd

I've already tried the head forward idea and it seems pretty effective.

I also solved the 'green fingered' mystery... I hadn't used shampoo on my hair. I'd only used conditioner until today. It took loads of the excess dye out (it didn't affect the colour of my hair) but it has stopped my hands turning green!

Thanks for the advice =]

It was your comment (illegalcreativity), that put me on the right track. It was the only thing that I hadn't tried yet - shampoo.

@felicity that's what i've been doing. It hasn't stained the sink so far (it's ceramic). The dye still manages to get everywhere!

Your dye shouldn't be staining your body when you shower. Maybe you didn't wash it out properly when dyeing it?

when you dye your hair with semi or demi perm non-natural colors it is best not to use shampoo for a few washes. i think you did the right thing only conditioning. this keeps color going much longer. even if you don't use manic panic hair color you can pick up some tips from their website. some people only condition for a few weeks after using a 40 developer. that stuff is pretty harsh. you have essentially, stripped your hair of its protein. protein is needed to hold the color. that is why some people use protein filler prior to dying their hair.

i am speaking as someone who has had atomic turquoise, vampire red and midnight blue hair and is on to pursue cotton candy pink streaks on my now auburn hair. i avoid shampoo when using semi perm dye.

love your hair, btw! is the color by jerome russel. i have looked at the one before. now i want it so badly. i am going to have to find a seller who will ship to Canada.

Thanks Corvus! I used crazy colour pine green. I have a bottle of sfx and manic panic but my local shop for things like this only stocks crazy colour Tongue

No, semi permanent dye like crazy colours, directions & SFX will always bleed a little colour when you wash your hair.

I've had blue hair for years & accepted a long time ago that my shower would stain & I have all black towels to hide the colour transfer!

The finger changing should ease after a while, sometimes it's just the dye & no matter how many times you wash it, it'll always rub on your fingers. Even my hair bobbles have blue tinges to them from my hair dye!!

Hmmm, bleeding 'a little' is an understatement. The first time i washed it I looked like a smurf by the time I was finished Tongue

And I was trying to wash my hair over the side of the bath...

I'm kinda relieved that i'm not the only one with the finger colouring situation!

I use manic panic now and so far I've had no problems =]
(it's blue now)

I so would love to do this, but with burgundy/red. I think it looks awesome. I would say to wrap your entire body with saran, but that may be hard to get out of. Refer to the previous advise. I don't have much to offer for this one. I just think it is a beautiful shade.

You can use gloves like dishwashing ones when you wash your hair. that is what i did when my hair was blue. It will stop staining your hands after a few times. I had to bleach the shower floor too! Like the color

I use really thin decorators gloves. They're great because they are so thin and flexible but they still protect you from bleach.
As it goes I think it was just the dye. The first time I used crazy colour which was still running bright green after 15 washes!! I used manic panic and the first wash was the only time I got any run at all.
I'm gonna be sticking with manic panic from now on (except when I want to do my hair rainbow, I'm gonna use directions for that because it would be too expensive to buy 5 different shades of manic panic!)

Thanks for the advice =]
