How to style my hair like this/what dye to use?

I'm getting my hair cut in a couple of weeks and I was thinking of getting it cut like this:

I was wondering how best to style it? I'm sort of going for a messy/spiky look at the moment, but I can never quite make it look that nice, also, my hair is pretty thin, so how can I make it look a bit thicker?

And I want to dye my hair this colour:

I was wondering if any of you guys had gone that colour and which dye you'd used? It's fine if it's only semi-permanent, I'd actually prefer it.

Directions has a red dye like that, I'm not sure what that specific shade is called though.

I used to have my hair cut the same way a couple years ago and to get it to style like that I would have to iron it (because it's really wavy naturally) but I would iron my hair not in a straight line but in an arc... For lack of a better word. Instead of making my hair go like this ---> |||| I would make it go like this ))(( and that way it would stick out spikey and not just lay flat. Also, you're going to need gel or mouse to make it stay for a long time. The other thing you might have to do is a little matting of your hair near the scalp to give it volume and then you smooth out the top layers so it doesnt look like a mess. This would help you with your thin hair. No one gets their hair to look like the picture without using product, ironing it, and back-combing it.

The color I recently had(and is in my picture) is crimson red by N Rage color. It was suuuuper bright. I looved it but I had to get rid of it for work. But the picture you have is more orangey-red. As for styling you would definitely have to tease a little bit. But I've never teased my hair, so I can't tell you how. Sorry.

I'm not sure that I'd get away with that colour for school (and there's the parents to convince!) So I was thinking I could dye it at the start of the 6 weeks holiday and by the end it would have pretty much faded and I'd just look a bit more ginger than normal? That's why I'd prefer semi-permanent.
Thankyou for the styling tips, I know it probably won't look like that when I do it, but I thought I'd ask for tips anyway, so I can atleast give it a go!

if you shower in the morning then blow dry your hair upside down and if not then when brushing your hair in the morning brush it up side down and maybe hair spray it then flip up take ur hair and straighten it like Lo said and then put wax in and then go section by section teasing it then take hair spray and spray it where you teased then for the bangs brush it over your face spray it let it sit a bit then using ur fingers just sweep it across your forhead and itll stay and tah dahhhhhh
