Red lipstick help?

Hello Happy

So a few days ago, I got the most beautiful dark red lipstick from Avon.
I love it and wanna wear it more often, but my only problem is this: It doesn't match any of my everyday looks :/

These are "everyday" looks for me: http://i45.tinypic.com/2csgz9s.jpg
(As you can see, I LOVE colour lol)

And I've only been able to pull off the lips wearing only the sort of minimal look, like this:

It's not that I HAVE to have makeup on before I step out of the door in the morning (I used to HATE makeup with a passion XD lol It's no biggie for me), but I always feel awkward when I wear more neutral makeup (I just feel like it doesn't look right on me, ya know? I'm so used to wearing bright, bold colour).

So I was wondering if anyone had any colour combo's or ideas that I could maybe try out so that I might be able to still wear this stunning red, and still use the colours that I love Happy

Thank you for your time! ^_^

Oooh, I love your use of color!
Maybe you could try doing similar eyeshadow, but in darker shades? Or silver/grey. Those always look nice with dark red lipstick!
You could also do a really dramatic black liquid liner in a cat's eye style - to keep it from looking too "goth" maybe add a little colored glitter liquid liner over the top. (I love love LOVE Sephora's brand of it - I have silver, purple and blue!)

Oooooor if you want to wear bright colors, maybe you could try using the lipcolor as more of a stain. Blot most of it off, and put a good coat of gloss over the top. If it appears more sheer, it might go better with the bright eyes.

I've been asking around, and everyone keeps telling me to do a smokey eye or using lighter shades of what I was doing.
Never really thought of just going darker...I'll try that! :3

That's actually a really good idea :o
I've maybe been lookin' at it all wrong.
I don't wanna see the lipstick as the "problem" loIt's all the eyeshadows fault!l
I'll try that too.
Thank you! Happy

I'm in love with your everyday looks!
Why don't you post a how to? I'm sure a lot of people would love it!
As for the colour I'm thinking of different shades of green combined together, it should match nicely with your lipstick

Erica, I use that red from Avon. It took me so long to find it. I wear it with blended grey eyeshadow, a strong eyebrow line and liquid eyeliner under my eye and a little along the inner part of my upper lid (nearest my nose). I usually wear my dark rimmed glasses to balance it up. Check out my alternative hair bunches as there is a before (eek) and after look Happy

Susanna P.
Thank you o^_^o
I don't know...I'm really shy about posting how-to's and stuff lol
And about the greens: I was looking at my colour wheel to try and find insperation, and when I looked at red and green together, I thought of Christmas Tongue
I've been trying to find greens that don't make me think of that when paired with red (because I have a shirt with this red and green bird on it and they look nice next to each other, ya know?).

It's so pretty! I love it :3
I've never found a red that I've liked this much (normally I wear neon-ish pink and purple lipcolours) because I think red always makes my mouth look crooked and I have a scar on my lip, and the red just makes it stand out so much more lol
But I'm in love with this red.
And I don't have any greys, but I do have silver...Might try that out :3
Thank you!

Thanks Erica...Try putting your foundation and powder on your lips first. Then use a lip pencil to get a good shape. Put a layer of colour on then put a piece of tissue between your lips and press your lips together lightly to take off the tacky feeling then put a finishing layer on. It makes lip stick last longer and helps to stop the colour bleeding or going onto your teeth. Another little tip I learnt from a beautician friend was to lightly lick your lips before you drink. It stops your lippy coming off on the glass as it makes a water seal Happy

Extra.....put your finger in your mouth, suck on it and pull it out with lips closed. It can be addictive...LOL but it takes extra lippy off that might go on your teeth. That's one of the drawbacks with bright colours but I'm a slave to my red lippy Happy

wear the lipstick with shimmery or metallic neutrals--like coppers if you are a warm tone, or greys/silvers if you are a cool tone. dont forget the cat eye drawn in brown or black liner, respectively. Happy

The trick with bold lips would be to be keep everything else subtle. I'm just like you in a lot of ways! I love really out there eyemakeup! In fact, eye makeup is just about the only I use.

You may want to try blending one bold color from the outside of your lids with a softer shade (one of the same color) to the inside of your lid. And of course make your eyelashes pop!

I hope this helped

I have the same exact problem! I recently fell in love with bold makeup and now that is all I ever do(my how-to's are how I usually go out just to go grocery shopping) and like you it's not like I NEED makeup to go out. So, thank you for posting this!! Also I love your everyday looks.
