Take a #KitchenTour at That Skinny Chick Can Bake and see Liz's kitchen in Indianapolis.

My favourite thing is the huge marble island. Great for prep, buffets, casual dining.

Tell us about your kitchen?

It was remodeled for the 2nd time since we bought the house in 1990. The area was opened up for better flow, I had a kitchen designer help with utilizing every space to the fullest. It's quite large but still with a homey feel. I cook daily and entertain on a regular basis.

What have you done to make your kitchen cosy, functional, beautiful or inspiring?

For function, I have a baking center between my ovens and warming drawers/microwave. The doors fold back to expose a counter with my food processor and stand mixer. Above is shelving for my baking spices, extracts, baking soda, powder, cornstarch, etc. We warmed up the mostly white space with rugs and valences, uphostered bar stools, plus red grasscloth wallpaper in my desk area.

How do you keep organized while cooking?

That's a work in progress. I do have a printed copy of the recipe to follow and will take notes on changes I make, etc.

Any tips & tricks for organising your pantry, fridge and ingredients?

Return things to the same place every time they are used. I alphabetize my spice racks. Date items that expire.

Do you do a lot of cooking and what are your favourite dishes to make?

Yes, I write a food blog, so a lot of cooking and baking happens each week. I specialize in cheesecakes, meringues and all sorts of cookies. Our grown sons stop by on Sunday nights for dinner and I make sure to have a dessert to end the meal.

Where do you turn for new recipe ideas?

Old cookbooks, recipes from my mom, and of course, the Internet!

Do you plan out your recipes for the week or do you like to be spontaneous?

I make sure to rotate the entree/protein, then figure out the starch and rely on seasonal fresh vegetables to round out the meal. But I don't make a meal plan for the week.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make this your dream kitchen?

It is my dream kitchen!!
