Take a #KitchenTour at Inspired Taste and see Adam & Joanne Gallagher's kitchen in Walla Walla, Washinton.

When we first moved into our home, the kitchen was cramped and dark. We love bright, airy spaces, so that's what we tried to achieve when we renovated the kitchen in 2020. We are usually both in the kitchen (as well as a cat and our son) at the same time so having such an open space is wonderful.

Tell us about your kitchen?

You can see our kitchen from almost everywhere in our house. It's the focal point and that's exactly the way we wanted it to be when we renovated in 2020. There's a large walnut island that a friend built for us that sort of acts as the hub of the house. It's our favorite part of the space.

What have you done to make your kitchen cosy, functional, beautiful or inspiring?

We took down a wall and added a sliding glass door to bring in lots of light and we painted the walls white. When we first moved in to the house, the kitchen was so dark! It was sort of depressing. Now with the extra natural light bouncing around, it feels airy and fresh.

How do you keep organized while cooking?

Every few months or so, we go through our kitchen things and donate anything we haven't used to make space for things we do use. We try to make sure everything has a space that is easily reachable and especially love our shelves where we keep all of our everyday plates/bowls/mugs/glasses.

Any tips & tricks for organising your pantry, fridge and ingredients?

Organize based on use and keep an eye out for things that you rarely use. Don't just push them to the back of cabinets or shelves, donate them!

Do you do a lot of cooking and what are your favourite dishes to make?

Yes! We cook a variety of meals for ourselves and test all the recipes for Inspired Taste in our kitchen. We both love quick, fresh meals so that's what we make most.

Where do you turn for new recipe ideas?

Everywhere. Books, social media, magazines and friends.

Do you plan out your recipes for the week or do you like to be spontaneous?

When testing recipes for Inspired Taste, we have a plan. When it's just for us, it's pretty spontaneous.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make this your dream kitchen?

Honestly, this is our dream kitchen and we feel so lucky to have it. It's fresh, airy, bright and feels good to work in. It's also cozy for our small family.
