How-To Crochet A Granny Triangle

Step 1
Pick up your first colour and make a slip knot on your hook, work 4 ch and sl st into 1st ch to form a ring.

ROUND 1 :
Ch 2, work 3 tr (1st shell) and ch 2

ABBREVIATIONS :
Ch : chain
sl st : slip stitch
tr : treble (=US DC, double crochet)
Step 2
Work 3 tr (2nd shell) and ch 2
Step 3
Work 3 tr (3rd shell) and ch 2
Step 4
sl st into top of 1st tr
Step 5
sl st in next tr (both 2nd and 3rd) and last sl st in corner
Cut yarn and fasten off.

The first round is completed!
Step 6
ROUND 2 :
Select a new colour , make a sl st (= 1 ch) to join in previous corner, work 1 more ch
Step 7
Work 3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr into the same corner, ch 1
Step 8
Work 3tr, 2ch, 3 tr into the same corner, ch 1
Step 9
Work 3tr, 2ch, 3 tr into the same corner, ch 1
Step 10
sl st into top of 1st tr
Step 11
sl st into next tr (both 2nd and 3rd) and into corner
Cut yarn and fasten off.

The second round is completed !
Step 12
ROUND 3 :
Pick the last colour, join it in the previous corner with a sl st (= 1 ch), then add 1 more ch.
Work 3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr into same corner, then ch 1.
In next ch-1 space work 3 tr and ch 1.
Step 13
Work 3 tr, 2 ch, 3tr into same corner, then ch 1
In next ch-1 space work 3 tr and ch 1.
Step 14
Work 3 tr, 2 ch, 3 tr into same corner, then ch 1.
In last ch-1 space work 3 tr and ch 1.
Step 15
sl st into top of 1st tr
Step 16
sl st into tops of both 2nd and 3rd tr, then make last sl st into corner.
Cut yarn and fasten off.

Third round is complete!

Obviously, you can crochet more rounds to make your granny triangle bigger and colourful. You just need to crochet 1 more shell (and 1 ch) on each side, every round you add!
