Join us for a #CraftRoomTour of Rachel Awes art playgroundist corner in St Paul, Minnesota.

My favorite thing about the space is the company I keep. I am surrounded with art made by talented and dear friends! Some of these friends!

Tell us about your space

This is a little corner of our kitchen! I love that it is an open example to all in our household of our value to pursue our creative passions! I both write and illustrate here, as well as put together book and art print orders.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I am inspired by all the encouraging and beautiful art created by friends in this space, as well as by the natural sunlight and early morning quiet.

How do you keep organized?

I keep organized through lots of lists in my phone's notes section, piling scribbles into my paper calendar, piling plans and documents into file folders, shelves and drawers, and hoping to remember where I've put everything! Ha! (It is a challenge with a smaller space!)

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

I prefer colorful file folders because they make me happier. For art supplies, vintage cigar boxes, plastic bins, yarn/felted big cups, and keeping my heart wide open.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

I do have some of my own artwork on display. And favorite possessions in this corner! That is so difficult because there are so many!! Well, I'd have to say the note I received last summer from my now 21 year old son Abe, before I left to speak to 500 women at "Brave Girl Symposium" that says "You're rockin your life! Have fun in Idaho Mom. Abe"

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

In various file folders and in my phone's notes section.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Primarily to resting and quiet. There is always a wellspring there. Secondly to walks outside. Third, to noticing the beauty in people, in both their words and overall presence.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

Make it bigger! Maybe up in a tree or in front of an ocean!
