Edith Lebeau is a Canadian artist based on the north shore of Montreal, Quebec. She spends most of her time painting in her studio with her Evil cat named Jack. For some time, Lebeau lived in the countryside, surrounded by fields, forest and a distant horizon line. Lebeau tells stories through the portraits that she creates. She paints strong female figures intricately paired with fauna and flora elements that are facing their own insecurities.

In her newest body of work she is exploring through the eyes of different woman characters, the various fears and dark emotions that we have in the deepest recesses of our mind. These women are left alone with these feelings and fears that we ourself try to forget and try to bury.

She draws inspiration from her own experiences as well as from nature, pop culture, movies, music videos, fairytales and various mythologies. Her works has been exhibited in Montreal, Berlin, Rome, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco and New York among other cities.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Yes. I've been drawing since I was a little kid. My parents introduced me to art very early.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Surrealistic storytelling portraits I guess...? I always find it hard to describe my work.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

Well lately I just purchased the Mab Graves limited artist edition Alvin mechanical pencils set and I must say it's my favorite tool since. Those pencils are amazing!!

I have those in my pencil case and also a lot of pink staedtler mars graphic 3000 duo. I don't use them that often, I just love pink pens. I also have a bunch of pilot spotliter. Same here, I don't use them that often, I just love the object. I have a bunch of eraser in different sizes and way to many pencil I should just get rid of because they are clearly finished/tiny.

Who is your favorite superhero?

My favorite superheroes are Buffy the vampire slayer and Batman.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

I would like to be fearless.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I draw inspiration from my own experiences as well as from nature, pop culture, movies, music videos, fairytales and various mythologies.
