We chat to Sian, give you a chance to win the book and learn how-to make a side tiara.

I am a designer, editor and book author and have been in the creative industry for about 30 years (yikes!). I did a BA (hons) in 3-D design where I specialised in jewellery design with a minor study in ceramics. Throughout my career I've designed in many different disciplines from greeting cards to wedding dresses. From the start though my passion has always been jewellery so whether it was making things to wear myself or selling my jewellery as a business I've always kept my hand in the jewellery pot. For the last 6 years I've been the freelance Editor of Making Jewellery magazine and also write books for the same company (GMC Publications) on jewellery making. I love this combination as I get to make stuff and write about it! plus I really like the publishing industry.

To me, the most important element in any work space is the availability of natural light. All of my photography (including the step-by-step pictures for my PDF patterns) is taken in my studio because it has the most amazing light. It's bright and airy, fresh and open. So I find the space really inspiring! I'm also completely in love with the view. My studio looks out onto two small dams in a gorgeous paddock filled with gum trees and grazing cattle. The view changes by the hour. So does the colour of the light. It's a little bit magical and makes me feel so at home. It helps my creative brain so much!

Plant Craft

Shelf 51e5xnp0lxl

We chat to Caitlin, give you a chance to win the book and learn how-to make a planted chandelier.

I grew up in Nevada City, California. A childhood spent amongst the trees, mountains and rivers instilled a love of all things natural. I studied photography at the California College of Arts in the San Francisco Bay Area. My photographs have appeared in magazines, books and exhibitions in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Today, I continue to draw inspiration from the natural world in my work as a photographer, stylist and designer. I split my time between the Bay Area and the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California.

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I was looking for tutorials on line, and needed insperation.

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm planing out a miniture, mounted deey head that I want to look vintage. I made a pumpkin a few years back that looked like it could be vintage, and I think the technique will translate well to the deer head. And I'm always making Jewelry or charms for friends and coworkers.
