Features

I am a visual artist from Chile, now based in Denver, CO. For years I worked as an illustrator, but by now I am mainly focused in my painting.
I love plants, light and colors, and I am also a Tarot enthusiast! All these influences mingle in my work taking me though unexpected paths.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Since I can remember I alway loved drawing and painting. I grew up in a family were drawing together was an everyday activity. I alway felt that creating my own things was exciting and fun.

How would you describe the style of your work?

I do a lot of different stuff, but what connects it all is my interest in color. I think that color is a powerful tool, complex enough to spend a lifetime playing around with it. I like to traslate the way we see light into color in images even if these look unreal.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I alway need to have a pen, because I like to be able to write down ideas. Also a pencil so I can sketch if I feel like it, drawing relaxes me. If I could I would carry around my brushes with me! But for now I actually downloaded an app to my phone that allows me to make little color sketches. I think that counts!

Who is your favorite superhero?

Sailor Moon. Now and forever! It was my favourite cartoon for years, and it really left a mark in my life. Se was funny, brave, romantic, charismatic. Even now sometimes I enjoy drawing Sailor Moon for fun!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

I would love to be able to fly! That way I could travel all over the world without the need of the plane ticket haha.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Everywhere. Movies, art, cartoons, my plants, the tarot cards, a nice conversation. Over the years I learnt that inspiration can be everywhere and it relates more to a lifestyle that just other people's work.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

I love the art of Inka Essenhigh, she is a fabulous painter. Her sense of shape and color are outstanding. I also love Agnes Martin's work, she is very meditative, and focused on the process.
I also LOVE the work of Terry Moore, especially his comic book "Strangers in Paradise". It is a masterpiece.
