Lisa is UK based game artist working remotely for a company in San Francisco and London. She is also the creator of House of the Rising Bun, a whimsical slice of life animated webcomic featuring Loof the loaf and Timmy T-Rex.
Have you always been creative and artistic?
Always! I pretty much welded a pencil to my hand as a child designing all sorts of weird and wonderful characters. Things haven't changed much apart from now I've replaced my pencil with a Wacom stylus and have incorporated animation into my work.
How would you describe the style of your work?
Absolutely ridiculous but loveable. My job isn't done if I'm not bringing a smile to somebody's face!
What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?
Wacom Cintiq, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator & Paint Tool SAI.
Who is your favorite superhero?
Super..Loof of course! Whenever I'm having a bad day all I need to do is look at Loof and her silly cheeks and all is well in the world.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
Isn't that a great question? The obvious one would be to have magic pointy fingers that could zap cheese boards and endless amounts of tea into existence ...right? In all seriousness though I would love to have a power that stopped people in their tracks when they say "I wish I was talented enough to be able to ...". I strongly believe there is no such thing as talent, with hard work and many hours of practice you can pretty much do anything you would like to do as a job or a hobby.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I'm a very competitive person so I like to be surrounded by a constant work stream of amazing designers to spur me onwards. I think this is why I love social networking so much, seeing the fantastic work people create from all over the world. I'm also what you'd call a social introvert, I love brain storming with other creative people and then I need peace and quiet - preferably outdoors on a nice, long walk to let my thoughts strew into my next creation!
