Come behind the scenes at Sooz In The Shed for a #CraftRoomTour and see Sooz's craft room in Carlisle.

I can have it as messy as I like :)

Tell us about your space

It was quite bittersweet getting a craft room as it meant one of my children had flown the nest. I started off with a small bedroom, and as each of my three offpring moved out my craftroom got bigger.

I share it with a mannequin named Claudette. She is the silent type, so we get on well :)

I have a huge yarn stash and I have boxes for each colour of part balls. I like the yarn stash, it seems to impress people. My fabric stash is heading in the same direction.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I have a wall full of other peoples artwork and I never tire of looking at it.

How do you keep organized?

I don't, I am a embarrassingly messy worker, yet I know where everything is at any given time.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

Boxes and labels. Even though I have admitted to being very messy, I could be quite organised as I have boxes for everything, should I ever get around to putting it all away!
I do have a big blitz every now and then and LOVE my tidy space... but it doesn't last long.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

My sewing machines are my pets, I name them and love them all. I am also very fond of an old school desk I bought, the ones with drawers in. There was no drawers with it when I bought it so I have had to buy them, so it's a mix of old and modern.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

When I have an idea I have to buy the bits to create it right away. Whatever it is I am working on then gets pushed to one side while I finish the new one. This habit results in a lot of 'works in progress'.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I try not to look at blogs or other peoples ideas as I never want to be accused of copying, but sometimes the world inspires us and we all end up at a similar point with similar creations.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

Wall to wall storage
More workspace
The ability to tidy up after myself
