Learn how-to knit a Whirligig Scarf and Ombre Tank in #ShopShowcase with Espace Tricot in Montreal.

How did you get started?

Melissa and I (Lisa) met one evening at a local knit night in 2008 and we had instant chemistry! We were both looking for a career change and in 2010 stumbled upon this great opportunity that we could not refuse. Here we are, 6 years later (a little wiser and a little greyer!) running the knitting shop that we always wanted as knitters, and developing and encouraging a multi-generational community of fibre enthusiasts!

Where are you located?

6050 Monkland ave
Montreal, Quebec, H4A 1H2
Canada
(N.D.G. neighbourhood)

Which products do you specialise in?

We specialize in natural yarns, needles, notions and accessories for knitting and crochet. We also have over 300 knit and crochet samples to inspire your creativity and delight your senses!

Do you have a particular favorite product that you sell?

We love our hand dyed yarns from independent producers as well as all the orignal gadgets and bags that we find from small home-based businesses.

Some of our local favorite dyers are Tanis Fiber Arts, Sweet Georgia Yarns, Julie Asselin, Koigu, Handmaiden and Scrumptiouspurl. We also love our Bookhou bags and Zig Zag Stitches Boxy bags.

What's on the stereo?

CBC Radio!

Where else should we visit in your area?

The Gryphon d'Or is a great Celtic Tearoom just across the street from us with delicious home cooked meals! It is a hot spot for our customers and Donna the owner is a knitter to boot!

Monkland avenue is a nice street to stroll on with its cafés, restaurants and shops. You can walk along Monkland avenue from the metro to our shop and enjoy the sights and sounds of our beautiful and family-friendly neighbourhood.

Do you host any workshops, classes or special events?

We have a full roster of classes and workshops that are published three times a year on our website (Fall, Winter, Spring).

We also host free Thursday evening Knit Nights every week from 6-9pm as well as special events and workshops with knitwear designers.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We welcome knitters and crocheters of all ages and abilities to our colourful and homey space!
