Features

Hi there! I'm Amy Rose and I'm an illustrator living in small historic town in IL with my husband and our daughter Daisy June. I love drawing, reading, yoga, and dancing to kpop with my little girl. I'm never too far from a sketchbook and a pencil, and I love creating portraits that capture special moments for my clients.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

As long as I can remember, yes! My family is full of artists so it was just always a huge part of my life. My dad is amazing with chalk pastels and oils, and my grandmother was into oils and watercolor. She was actually an art teacher and I took over her school when she passed away so that experience has been amazing. I'm excited for my daughter to grow up in such a creative environment!

How would you describe the style of your work?

Very quirky and fun! I love bold, bright colors and patterns as well. I really want to make other people smile when they see my work.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I have a mechanical pencil, a few sharpie sharpie pens and an eraser. Nothing too fancy! My favorite tool is definitely my pencil, though my wacom tablet is a close second!

Who is your favorite superhero?

Sailor Moon!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

Moon Prism Power! <3

Where do you look for inspiration?

Japanese culture and fashion is my biggest inspiration for sure. Every day inspiration also comes from my daughter Daisy and the adorable and silly things she does. Cute and colorful food as well. And nature! I love taking walks with Daisy and we spend a lot of time studying trees and plants we see along the way.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

Naoko Takeuchi is my favorite manga artist for sure. Emily W. Martin is an amazing illustrator as well. I also have soooo many ridiculously talented friends who are constantly inspiring me! I'm super blessed.
