Bake banana bread and granola in #ABiteToEat with Kaffeine in London.

How did you get started?

I have always worked in hospitality both in Australia where i grew up and also in London. When I returned for the second time to London in 2005, my wife and I looked for a great coffee place like the ones back home in Melbourne. There were not very many and so the idea for Kaffeine was formed.
Over the period of 2008 and 2009 I immersed myself in the growing London coffee scene, wrote a business plan, approached a bank for funding and found a site and in August 2009, I opened our first store.

Where are you located?

Our original store is located at 66 Great Titchfield Street in Fitzrovia, London which is just north east of Oxford Circus. It is predominantly a fashion, media, design and advertising area. We liked the area so much, we opened our second store in the same area in 2015, at 15 Eastcastle street.

What are your specialities?

We try to make the entire overall experience our speciality. We aim to provide the best possible coffee, service and food combined with genuine friendly hospitality in a lovely environment. Of course espresso coffee is a main focus of us, but we also make all our ow food on site each day, with a weekly rotating seasonal menu.

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

My personal favourite thing on the menu is our seven seeded gourmet sandwiches. It is a truly delicious bread that we get from our bakers and when toasted makes for an amazing sandwich. I also love our own made brioche buns, that we use both at lunch time for fillings and also at breakfast with filling such as avocado, omelette, rocket and tomato salsa or omelette, pancetta, rocket and tomato salsa.

What's on the stereo?

Great Question! The stereo is hugely important. One of the motivating factors of opening was being able to play all my music. We use a classic ipod and I have designed about 40 12 hour long playlists that the staff just hit play in the morning and they go all day. We start off a bit slow, then pick things up during the day and calm down at the end. We love cool hip hop, drum and bass, chill out electronica, funky house, deep house and more.

Where else should we visit in your area?

When near Great Titchfield street you should go to Portland or Clipstone restaurants or to the Langham Hotel for cocktails or afternoon tea. When near Eastcastle street go to the Edition Hotel for the Berners tavern restaurant by Jason Atherton and also the bar for cocktails, or the Sanderson Hotel for afternoon tea or cocktails.

Do you host any special events?

Yes every year we run the London Latte art Smackdown where 64 barista compete against each other in a knock out latte art competition for prizes, cash and glory. Photos are here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/getnoticed/albums/72157674809499026

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We believe that a guests experience should be easy, seamless and comfortable, that the idea is to ensure that however the customer feels when they arrive, that they will feel better when they leave. In order to do this, we focus on small percentages or details as well as providing genuine hospitality. Welcome to Kaffeine, discover it for yourself.
