Come behind the scenes at Our Fifth House for a #CraftRoomTour and see Carmel's workspace in Lexington, Kentucky.

I loved how happy and inviting the space was.

Tell us about your space

I carved a workspace for myself out of our basement. Our basement was a multifunctional space as it was a family hangout zone and playroom for my kids. With the use of paint I tuned one wall into my own little work/craft space. I'm not a huge crafter, but I do like to give my glue gun a work out from time to time. ;) I also love to hoard ribbon and fabric scraps to use for all sorts of things around the house. I enjoy sending a pretty handwritten note to friends and family, and absolutely love to wrap up a pretty gift package!

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I brought in a comfy patterned chair and some personal things like printed instagram photos.

How do you keep organized?

The pegboard was a simple way to keep all my supplies organized and accessible.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

Think outside the box when it comes to storage. I like using clear glass vases and apothecary jars to store supplies in a beautiful way. I'm also a big fan of baskets and vintage suitcases.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

I love vintage paint by numbers and I have a thing for horses which is why I chose to display this horse print by number in this space. I don't have any of my own crafts on display here unless you count the fabric bunting I made from scraps.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I still love to earmark magazines and stored them in these vintage suitcases by my desk.

Where do you look for inspiration?

All over the place. Blogs, magazines, design books, and of course pinterest. I've also been known to love window shopping and may or may not schedule visits to NYC just to peruse the incredible window displays!

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

I'd love to have a whole room just to myself one day. I'd also love to have a really large farmhouse style work table. It would be awesome to turn an outdoor shed into a craft space one day!
