Cook a pad thai and vegan buffalo cauliflower tacos in #ABiteToEat with Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant in Boulder, Colorado.

How did you get started?

Leaf was a lifelong dream of chef/owner Lenny Martinelli, who also owns a number of other restaurants in the Boulder area. Creating a vegetarian restaurant that focused on delicious, fresh, meatless cuisine was the first concept that motivated Lenny to get into the restaurant business. Lenny has always been interested in sustainable food processes and environmental causes, so Leaf was born of those passions. In addition to the six local restaurants owned by Three Leaf Concepts, Lenny owns a local organic farm that supplies some of the fresh produce to Leaf and is featured in our seasonal menus.

Where are you located?

We are located in the heart of downtown Boulder, just of the popular pedestrian mall, The Pearl Street Mall, at the corner of 16th and Pearl Street.

What are your specialities?

We specialize in fresh, locally sourced where possible, meatless cuisine that is prepared in a contemporary, creative way. Our goal is to make vegetarian food that is accessible to all people, not just vegetarians. In addition to our vegetarian options, we offer a number of vegan selections as well.

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

I love our Jamaican Jerk Tempeh. It's been a customer favorite for years due to the rich, spicy flavors. Its made of a flavorful and wonderfully texture tempeh cake atop a bed of forbidden black rice, with a coconut plantain sauce, sautéed greens and topped with a sweet fruit salsa. The sweet and spicy flavors are amazingly balanced and the meal is filling, satisfying, and delicious.

What's on the stereo?

All kinds of music! Nothing too loud though, our goal is to create a sophisticated, contemporary and serene environment where the highlight of the senses is the excellent flavors of our cuisine.

Where else should we visit in your area?

Of course, visit our other local spots! The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is our flagship restaurant and offers a full menu of cuisine spanning the globe. The Chautauqua Dining Hall is a Boulder icon, and sits at the base of the famed Flatirons, for a quintessential Boulder experience and a menu of Colorado Bistro offerings. Right next door to Leaf is our Latin American restaurant, Aji, which features the colorful, spicy cuisine of Latin and South America. And, naturally, visit the Pearl Street Mall for other fantastic restaurants, great shopping, and a taste of the Boulder lifestyle.

Do you host any special events?

We do offer throughout the year a number of events. Visit our website to see what we are offering for holidays. We also offer a unique, vegetarian afternoon tea service, and often do special dinners featuring the cuisine of specific culture.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We would love to have you visit us!
