Come behind the scenes at Gold Standard Workshop for a #CraftRoomTour and see Kristie's craft room in Seattle.

It's light and bright! I've been careful about choosing things I absolutely love to display on my desk and craft wall. I'm always happiest sitting at my desk!

Tell us about your space

My craft room is really just a corner of my living room in my one-bedroom apartment. And honestly, it extends onto my kitchen table and living room coffee table--and they're a mess right now! I also have a large nine-foot closet in my hallway that is full of supplies so I feel pretty lucky. I use the craft "room" for all kinds of crafts--sewing, paper projects, but also reading, blogging, designing, and planning new ideas!

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I moved my craft desk next to my window about 6 months ago and it made a huge difference--it's so light and bright and inspiring now! I have pops of gold and some cute greenery on my desk that makes me smile.

How do you keep organized?

That's tough. I always have project piles scattered around the apartment. I love being organized but it seems like it only takes a few minutes to make a gigantic mess and I have to start all over again. I use Rubbermaid storage and IKEA bins and such to keep things organized. I use a hanging IKEA sweater storage piece to store my fabric in the closet and three handmade paper ladders for flat paper--those both work really well. I use bins to organize adhesives, stamps, ink, and any other bits and pieces.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

Look at Target and thrift stores for great desk supplies! Pinterest and the Martha Stewart website are great resources for ideas too. If you're on a budget, just cover some empty aluminum cans or paint mason jars for desk organization.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

I love my sewing machine! I use it a lot for my online shop and it's helped me create a LOT of projects over the years. I really feel grateful that I'm able to have a craft space of any kind. My desk, fabric stash, photos of friends and family who have supported me in my crafty endeavors--all work together to create a really special space.

I have a lot of craft creations that I've painted, sewed, cut, pasted, you name it! My whole house is a crafty experiment!

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I recently started an inspiration journal that is full of magazine clippings and color and fabric swatches. It's so fun to get off of the computer for awhile and relax and cut and paste things together!

Where do you look for inspiration?

I love looking at the A Beautiful Mess and Oh So Beautiful Paper blogs, and Anthropologie and J.Crew stores. I'll also make it a point to spend time in the fabric store and also explore local neighborhoods to see what's trending.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

Actually, I'm pretty happy about my space! It really melts into the rest of my apartment and there are crafty bits and pieces and things I've made all over--crafting and DIY is who I am! My dream space might be a bit bigger and I'd love to paint it a fun color.
