Hi there! I am an illustrator, picture book enthusiast, tea-drinker, dog-petter and owner at the online shop extravaganza Draw Me A LIon. I also teach illustration for picture books at the Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver. http://drawmealion.com/

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Yes. My favourite things when I was a kid were, drawing, listening to stories, and making up my own stories. And that's pretty much still the case... except now I also get paid for it. Which is pretty cool:)

How would you describe the style of your work?

Childhood has always played a big part in my work. The playfulness and freedom that comes along with that is something I try to have shine through in my work. I like my work to look alive and fun. There has to be a certain amount of spontaneity mixed with careful planning.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I like to mix it up so I don't get bored and also because every project requires something slightly different, but some of my go-tos are definitely the Pentel Brush Pen, and an ordinary N2 Pencil. Can't beat it! I also am in love with my little pencil sharpener from Muji. It's perfect for on-the-go sharpening and keeping your pencil case clean.

Who is your favorite superhero?

Pippi Longstocking! She is coolest of them all! Hands down!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

Flying! Duh!

Where do you look for inspiration?

I used to look at tons of images online and constantly buy books. Now in the last few years I think I crammed my head (and my bookshelves) so full of stuff that something as simple as a leaf outside or an interesting pattern in the cobblestone can inspire me just as much. Inspiration is everywhere. I just have to be in the right mood for it. And I usually am:)

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

I love sooooooooo many different people's work but here are just a few of my ultimate favs. Tove Janson, Roahl Dahl, Alexander Calder, Joan Sfar, Dave Mc Kean, Marc Boutavant, Lilli Carrè, Jillian Tamaki.
