    Place fabric right sides together.

    Sew using the seam allowance noted in your pattern.

    * The seams will need to be larger than 1/4". In these photos we have used a 5/8" seam allowance.

    Reduce your seam to 3/8". The easiest way to keep a consistent seam is to use a ruler and mark before cutting.

    Press seam flat and fold over raw edges to meet the seam.

    Match folded edges together so that the raw edges are encased within the fold. Pin in place.

    Edgestitch the folded edge.

    Press seam to one side! Your finished seam should look just like a French seam!

Why not just sew the edges together wrong side, 1/4 inch, then fold over 1/4 inch right sides together and sew? Should get the same result for less work.
