How To Sew A Mock French Seam

Learn how-to sew a mock French seam in #TechniqueTuesday with Stacy from Stacy Sews and then make her Corset Patchwork Skirt.

• 

  Step 1

  Place fabric right sides together.

• 

  Step 2

  Sew using the seam allowance noted in your pattern.

  * The seams will need to be larger than 1/4". In these photos we have used a 5/8" seam allowance.

• 

  Step 3

  Reduce your seam to 3/8". The easiest way to keep a consistent seam is to use a ruler and mark before cutting.

• 

  Step 4

  Press seam flat and fold over raw edges to meet the seam.

• 

  Step 5

  Match folded edges together so that the raw edges are encased within the fold. Pin in place.

• 

  Step 6

  Edgestitch the folded edge.

• 

  Step 7

  Press seam to one side! Your finished seam should look just like a French seam!
