Make some cranberry orange pops and coconut pops with Backyard Pops in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

How did you get started?

Ashlee was a stay-at-home-mom when we had our first son, Beckett. After a few months it was time to introduce solid foods and getting him to eat anything really was a struggle, as many moms know all too well. She started pureeing his foods and we quickly learned the trick was to make ice pops out of them. After much trial and error, we had a handful of recipes nailed down - Raspberry Lime, Peaches and Cream, and Avocado especially were his favorites. Our family and friends were intrigued as well and we had such a great response, we thought we might be on to something. We received so much encouragement to move forward with this concept, someone even randomly gave us a commercial hand mixer for Christmas! We knew it was time to seriously launch this product and bring something cool to our hometown.

Where are you located?

We just opened a storefront in Jax Beach, FL this past summer. Although we still plan to keep the pop carts out at local events, farmer's markets, and music festivals around town.

What are your specialities?

We marry the best and most flavorful ingredients we can find, then freeze the heck out of them :).

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

Our menu changes regularly based on the seasons, but I've been experimenting with different cheeses lately - our Blueberry Goat Cheese pop is extremely hard to resist!

What's on the stereo?

At this moment...Lucero.

Where else should we visit in your area?

There are so many amazing places near us that I could go on forever! However, we're really into Watt's Juicery, Blind Rabbit, Engine 15 Brewing, and Hoptinger right now. Also, catch a show at Freebird Live before they close the doors!

Do you host any special events?

We're hosting a Jax Foodie Adventures event one night soon where foodies will try 6 courses of popsicle creations. We're also setting up field trips for local schools next spring where the kids came come and learn about sourcing, production, and they get to make their own pops. Finally, we hope to get permits for food truck nights in our own parking lot very soon - can't wait for that!

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

Chesley has never lost a belly-flop contest.
