We head to Ottawa, Canada to tour Stephanie's Studio.

What I love about my space how I’m surrounded by beautiful objects that inspire me and reflect what I love.

Tell us about your space

My studio space is a beautiful bright and airy room in my home that I make crafts and art in, but it also works as my photography studio for my projects and my home office which I work out of full time. Within the room I have the white desk that I built, that I use for editing my photographs or writing. There also is a craft table that has an adjustable table so it can be used for building my next DIY project, or be slanted and used as an easel.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

The white walls in my space serve as a rotating gallery space of beautiful images. To keep things fresh, I print small photographs, often taken from my Instagram account and tape them onto the wall with washi tape in a grid to create an inspiration wall.

How do you keep organized?

I have years of experience teaching art where I had to manage the studio supplies for hundreds of students, so keeping things in place for one person is simple in comparison. My art table has a specific spot for all my essential supplies, such as markers, scissors, pencils etc.. which makes everything easy to find. All the larger items are kept in the closet, within labeled storage bins.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

Before storing leftover supplies from a craft project I ask myself if I can think of a project where I might use this item. If I can’t, I simply don’t keep it which helps to keep my studio space manageable.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

There are too many things that I love about my space, but some of my favourite possessions would be the Eiffel Tower statue that sits on my desk, as it reminds me of one of my favorite places in the world to travel to.

Within my room I often have a variety of my own photographs or paintings on the walls, but I treat the room as an art gallery so each time someone visits the space there is a new exhibit.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

To keep my ideas organized I have a sketchbook that I use to jot down ideas for projects, which might just contain concepts or sketches for how I want to frame my next photograph. I also use Pinterest, and have a folder of saved images on my computer filled with inspirational ideas.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Inspiration finds me whenever, from the beautiful window display at a store, the lyrics in a song, the colours in a beautifully plated meal in a restaurant to simply being faced with a problem and trying to discover a creative solution.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

If I could, I’d love to have a larger studio space so that I could have an entire section of my studio dedicated for a photo studio so that I wouldn’t need to temporarily set up my photography backgrounds when I need them. For wish 2, I’d love to have a large window that looks onto a beach, or some other gorgeous landscape. Finally for the last wish, I’m surprisingly finding it hard to think of anything else, so I’ll add that my room would be filled with all the craft supplies I could ever dream of using.
