Come behind the scenes at Vikalpah and tour Sahana's master bedroom craft space in New York.

The favorite thing about my craft space is, it is spacious and have enough daylight as it has two large windows side by side.

Tell us about your space

My craft space is actually a part of the master bedroom. We use the guest bedroom for sleeping as it takes long time to heat/cool the master bedroom during winter/summer.So, the room is pretty much empty but it has a dressing table on one side , a big keyboard on the other side and a closet on the third side. The fourth side is my craft space and the center space is empty. We call this room as "Craft room" but it acts as mutipurpose room to store other items as well.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I have changed the curtains to light colors(to bring in more light) , hung some inspirational quotes and also my own wall arts.

How do you keep organized?

It is a little tough task for me because I am not very organized at the same time not very disorganized too .Meaning, When there is no projects going on ,my craft space looks neat but if there is some work in progress then it is a big mess. You know people say "Creativity is messy". My space is an example. I get lot of ideas only when all the supplies for that particular project is on the table so I don't put them in their place before the project is completely done.(You get the point, right?) As far ,organizing the supplies is concerned ,I use DIY storage as well as some store bought plastic boxes and containers.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

75% of my organizing supplies is a DIY. Why waste money when you can DIY ? :) You can go to my blog and type "Organizing" to check out my DIY organizing and storage ideas.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

My favorite possession is my sewing machine. I am always amazed by all the jobs it does :). When I say this , I know you wanted to know what make it is.(Am I right? :P) It is "Brother SB700T" . I purchased this machine from a dealer. And also it is my favorite as it is my birthday gift from my husband. ;) .
My craft space is full of my own creations , I have the DIY Thumbtack wall art , Corkboard converted into chalkboard + Inspiration board and DIY Faux String Nail Art on the walls of my craft space. There are also others stuffs like Ribbon and tape organizer, organizing baskets, containers ,etc which I use in my craft space.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I organize my inspirations and ideas in a simple old style. In a notebook.:)

Where do you look for inspiration?

Obviously in the crafter's google , "Pinterest"! And also in other websites like craftgawker, craftgossip, etc

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

1.A room dedicated only for crafts, even though I use the bedroom only for my crafts I still could not accept the multipurpose use at times ;).

2.Furnitures(Like craft table, shelves) and organizing supplies designed for craft rooms. (Is that too much to dream ?? It is just dream, right? ;))

3.A separate area for taking pictures of my completed project with white and black background interchangeable.Along with good lighting for winter days. (Is anyone with me in this ??)
