Make a Yogurt & Fruit Parfait, Organic Steel Cut Oatmeal Delight and a Vegan Pina Colada Protein Shake with Froyo Chicago Cafe in Chicago, Illinois.

How did you get started?

We are a family-founded, family-owned business. My wife and I wanted to create a dessert café that focused on a healthier alternative to mainstream offerings. Frozen yogurt provides many nutritional benefits and the ability to customize via the self-serve method was a perfect combination!

We began to speak with the various franchisors and came to the conclusion that none of them provided us the opportunity to fully control our products and customer experience. We endeavored to create something differentiating and have never looked back!!

Where are you located?

To date we have 2 locations but are always looking for the next perfect spot.

Our shops are located at:
o The Loop 233 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601 (in the pedestrian pedway)
o Lakeview's Southport Corridor 3746 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL 60613

What are your specialities?

The organic, self-serve frozen yogurt may be the primary reason that customers walk through our door but after one look around the shop they are pleased to learn that….

We are the first self-serve yogurt shop in Chicago to offer:
- organic yogurt + toppings,
- 100% customizable smoothies,
- Organic Metropolis coffee + Organic Octavia tea
- A variety of gluten-free and vegan baked goods,
- An all-day breakfast bar serving organic, slow-cooked steel cut oatmeal

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

My wife has always enjoyed matcha due to the feeling of relaxed alertness it provides without the caffeine crash. She searched far and wide to find the best matcha available. We are proud to offer Premium Grade-A matcha for teas & lattes or as an additive to smoothies or froyo.

My tastes are a bit sweeter. I can be saddled with the addition of our non-fat gummy candies (such as our organic gummy worms).

What's on the stereo?

Our shop vibe is as diverse as our customer base. At any given time you could find classic rock, modern pop, R&B, or even a host of the latest Disney/Pixar movie songs specifically geared for the afternoon rush of kids or birthday parties at our Southport location.

Where else should we visit in your area?

The pedway in which our 233 N Michigan Ave shop resides houses several restaurants offering organic and healthy food options. We are happy to see that so many nearby businesses are making strides toward elevating their product offering. If sports and entertainment are more intriguing, Sweetwater Tavern and Grille (just across the street at 225 Michigan Avenue) is a great after-work venue.

On Southport, we are big fans of the Mercury Theater and Music Box for entertainment. The Southport Corridor between Waveland and Grace is a great place for families to come eat, play (park at Blaine school), and, of course, grab some of the tastiest and healthiest desserts!

Do you host any special events?

Our Illinois Center location (233 N Michigan Ave) is proudly hosts several weekly corporate parties. Additionally, we are also randomly drawing from our customers’ business cards companies to receive a weekly discount for their entire office. This has been happily welcomed by everyone!

At our Southport location we have a dedicated “Froyo Fun Zone” (room off the main dining floor) designed especially for children. Arts & crafts, a chalkboard wall, and kid-friendly seating await eager faces daily. We also have a line-up of free performances for the kids each month from story time to sing-alongs. The kids get entertainment and the parents get a well-deserved break! This room can also be reserved for private gatherings: birthday parties, general get-togethers, and bon-voyage parties are just a few of the events we've hosted thus far.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We donate a meal to the Greater Chicago Food Depository for every baked good purchased at Froyo Chicago.
