Crocheted Sea Creatures: A Collection of Marine Mates to Make (Knitted)
We chat to Vanessa, give you a chance to win the book and learn how-to crochet a puffer fish.
I design and make crocheted accessories and am also a screen print artist. In my crocheted work, I like to use a combination of new and vintage yarns and threads. I love to mix natural fibres, such as wool, cotton and linen, as well as more unusual materials including metallic threads, wire and banana silk. My screen prints and illustrations are quite simple in style with blocks of colour and shapes behind a figurative subject. I mainly work with acrylics but also use emulsions. I enjoy lino printing as well. Recently, I have been working with the Guild of Master Craftsman Publications, producing a range of craft books which cover a variety of creative disciplines, including print making, knitting crochet and sewing, suitable for the beginner through to the advanced maker. I have also written projects for various craft magazines.
We head to Calgary in Canada to meet Joanne who loves all kinds of crafts.
How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
Through a friend that shared something on Facebook...I thought it was a super cool website because I love to craft and see what others have made
What projects are you currently working on?
I've started a couple paintings...one inspired by Disney's Tangled's lantern scene, and another that's a mash-up of Batman and Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. I've also been doing henna tattoos and painting phone cases!Read the rest of the interview »

Britta recreates the rustic cosy style of Applejack from My Little Pony's kitchen-living room.
Applejack is the best My Little Pony (Friendship is Magic) character because she's so down to earth and family-oriented. Her home, from what I've seen in the cartoon and what I imagine, must be so cosy and relaxing, being filled with only natural materials and precious vintage heirlooms passed down through the generations. The projects I've chosen to style her room are for a kitchen-living room space, as that's where the family spends time together. Handmade really suits Applejack as she's used to working hard for herself to get results! I hope you enjoy sharing my little picture of a dream room with all the cosiness it offers.
