Learn how-to bake a Mango & Ginger Baked Alaska with Frisky Froyo in Edinburgh, Scotland.

How did you get started?

Both my brother and I are passionate about food, and were eager to do something in Edinburgh. The previous year to opening I had been working for a company in london setting up a frozen yogurt business down there. There was a boom of froyo shops in London but it had not reached Scotland, so we decided to bring the first one to Edinburgh and Scotland. With a wealth of knowledge of froyo (having been to frozen yogurt venues in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia) we planned to open a froyo bar serving the best and highest quality frozen yogurt. We are amongst only a few frozen yogurt venues which can boast using only 100% pure cultured yogurt, and not mixes of water, milk and miscellaneous powders.

Where are you located?

We are located at 37 Lothian Road and 13 Forrest Road.

What are your specialities?

Our specialities are the best the best froyo and delicious bubble teas!

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

Straight up natural froyo! Alphonso mango froyo (which is just natural froyo with 100% alphonso mango puree added) comes a close second. Topped with passion fruit, strawberries, brazil nuts and something chocolatey!

What's on the stereo?

Music varies widely according to the staff members that are on. But it's always upbeat and normally quite random. Los Campesinos are playing as I type and Modest Mouse are next up.

Where else should we visit in your area?

Near our Forrest Road location we love Union of Genius Soup across the road, and the Brazilian pancake police box at the top of Middle Meadow Walk. On Lothian Road we like a new place called Coletti and Co (great coffee and cakes), The Hanging Bat and Kanpai Sushi (best sushi in town!).

Do you host any special events?

We organise pop ups for businesses, events and celebrations. We also do a few things in store and are currently displaying a gallery for a local artist.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We pride ourselves in being a locally grown company and the first froyo shop in Scotland.

We take great pride in the product which is the most natural and healthy available. Our froyo is fat free, low in sugar and we don't use any high fructose corn/agave syrups or sweeteners. In addition we have a vast selection of toppings including everything from blueberries to chocolate brownie to lychee jelly!

We endeavour to source as much as we can locally, and have worked closely with local companies from the start. DOTrun in Leith are responsible for helping us to create the Frisky brand.

We are also environmentally aware and all our froyo packaging is 100% carbon neutral and fully compostable!
