Features

I'm an Indonesian born visual artist and self taught doll maker. My work is inspired mostly by my childhood memories, fairy tales, and dreams. I have been a lot of things before I came to where I am today. A graphic designer, a teacher, a baker and an illustrator. Nowadays, I'm happy to say that I'm a full time artist and mother.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Most definitely. I discovered my passion for art at a very young age and have been creating things for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was obsessed with the idea of having a pencil that could bring anything I drew to live. Well, at least they were, in my head. :)

How would you describe the style of your work?

I think my work is a mix of so many art styles and forms that have influenced me throughout my life. In a way, it embodies the deepest longing to be a child again, a marriage between dreams and childish whims. With a touch of poetic human emotions.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

In my main pencil case, I have a bundle of graphite pencils, all happily used and mostly short in lengths from constant sharpening (I have a thing about sharp pencils). Pieces of cut off erasers used mostly on the edges (also a thing), and a few brushes for blending. I have one, small eye make-up brush that I have used for ages and it's the best thing ever!

Who is your favorite superhero?

I had a lot growing up! Invisible Woman, Bat Girl, Sailor Moon. These days I think I would add Hinata to the list.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

The ability to travel through time in a speed of light.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I look everywhere for inspiration, but mostly from books, movies, nature and my children.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

I have a long list of favorite artists from so many different eras. To name a few, there are Renoir, John William Waterhouse, Mark Ryden and illustator, Wayne Anderson.
