Needle-felt a penguin charm with Made By Me in Amsterdam.

How did you get started?

In 2009, Jorgen and Luca, an art teacher and a graphic designer, both curious and creative minded, shared a vision of a place where others like us, could learn all about 'Arts & Crafts’. In a cosy, inspiring and colourful atmosphere. A place where anyone could experience creativity, while enjoying the process of making stuff and socialise with other people. So we left our ‘regular daily job' and jumped together in this exciting adventure.

Where are you located?

We are so happy, and feel so lucky to have found our ‘spot’ in an historical building in the center of Amsterdam (in Holland). Even though we are not in a main street, we are literally few minutes walking from the biggest park, Vondelpark, and from one of the most popular square of the city, Leidseplein.

Which products do you specialise in?

We are specialised in arts&crafts tools, materials and starter kits. Our main goal is to focus on helping beginners with their projects, or with their new hobby. We can teach them the basics through our workshops. And provide all the support they may need.

Do you have a particular favorite product that you sell?

Our favourite product is the roving wool. Its' such a flexible and interesting material. You can use it to make simple decorations or iper-realistic sculptures, and even clothes! Needle or wet felting are very rewarding techniques whether you are beginner or advanced. A kid or an adult. And the working process itself, of both methods, are kind of meditative and relaxing as well.

What's on the stereo?

We love indie pop and alternative rock!

Where else should we visit in your area?

There is a lot to visit around us at walking distance. Most close to us are museums like the Van Gogh and the Rijksmuseum, but also many theatres. "The nine streets” in the Jordan it’s surely worth a visit too, with its many small shops and typical dutch cafe’s.

Do you host any workshops, classes or special events?

Workshops and classes have been our main focus for the first 3 years of our activity, now it's about 50% of what we do, so they are still very central in our concept. Yes, we have workshops and classes: Mosaic, modelling, mixed-media, stone sculpturing, but also jewellery making, wool felting, papier-mâché. That’s what we offer at the moment. Due our central location we have customers from all over the country. We also host children parties, with a creative twist, as well as 'spicy' activities for enthusiastic bachelorette groups. Team-out's and team building’s are also quite popular.
And finally we are going to offer soon workshops for international tourists too: inspired travellers will have the opportunity to make special and unique 'dutch souvenirs' with their own hands.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

If you come in Amsterdam, to visit this wonderful city with its countless attractions, pass by and say 'Hi', maybe you’ll find your special crafty dutch souvenir for your friends and family!
