I like the overall look & feel of this room. Besides one closet, we don't have tall furniture here which makes it very spacious.
Tell us about your space
The room is about 18 m². It serves as an work space and craft room for my boyfriend and I. We both have our own desk, facing each other. So when we look up from our computer screens, we can see each other. Mostly I craft greeting cards here. Sometimes I also use my computer to create printable templates, so people can follow the instructions of my card tutorials easier.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
Next to my desk there's a magnetic board. I put inspirational images, beautiful business cards and notes on it. I'm also fond of wrapping paper, because of all the beautiful patterns. When a large vase had no more purpose in our house, I decided to store my gift wrap in it. It looks very playful!
On another wall there's a poster which displays all kind of birds. I love birds and graphic images, so this is an ideal combination. A bit further on the same wall there's a card rack. I store my own greeting card creations here.
My office chair has become more comfortable by putting an oversized graphic pillow in it.
On my desk itself there's a white gold desk lamp and two decorative porcelain houses. I sprayed the golden porcelain house by myself to match it with the desk lamp. I like how it all becomes one.
How do you keep organized?
I try not to buy too many craft supplies. It's very tempting, because there are so many beautiful supplies out there, but before you know it your storing space is overcrowded. Therefore I always ask myself: do I really need this? How often will I use it? If I'm happy with both answers, I'll buy it!
I always clean up after crafting. Each craft supply has its own spot, so it doesn't take much time to tidy up & grab it the next time you need it. Plus, it really motivates me to go craft when my desk is tidy.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Make sure each craft supply has its own spot in your room/house. Preferably all in the same closet on a decent height (not too low, not too high), so you can grab multiple supplies at once if needed.
Use boxes and folders to group craft supplies. Put stickers together, scissors, markers etc. This way you'll become aware of all the craft supplies you own and the craft possibilities.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I really like the card rack. It displays all the greeting cards I've crafted until now. It really inspires me to create more and more.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
My sister got me an A5 sketch book. I have it with me nearly everyday. Just in case a good idea pops up, I can write it down immediately. I also use the magnetic board in the room to put inspirational images from magazines on it.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I usually check out Google Images and look for images which represent the theme I have in mind. Sometimes inspiration finds its way spontaneously. It could be somewhere in the streets, a news paper, Facebook etc. I like craft books too, so I've recently bought some books about pop up cards to learn more about this craft technique.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
This is a nice question! First, I would love to have an endless amount of colored paper & textures. Second, a place dedicated to recording my video tutorials, like a spare desk. And third, sunlight! We live in an appartment faced north east, so we don't have much direct sunlight except in the early morning. It would be lovely to see the sunrays on my desk while crafting.
