I am a self taught Australian artist, I love things melancholic, romantic, and quirky. The girls that I paint are pretty much little pieces of my brain & heart. Fish, stars, a few numbers and circles often appear along with my girls, and these symbols are how I tie my own meaning into the painting. They are my way of reminding myself, who or what I was painting about, & are a little along the lines of the spooky and quirky subconscious left of field. Aside from painting & drawing I spend my time delving into things that remind me of my Nanna like hunting for vintage treasures in op shops and baking.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Yes, ever since I was little but then it does run in my blood. Both my Nanna and my Mum are very creative. When I was little there were always either sewing a new dress, or cooking something delicious. My earliest memory of art was when I was about 5 years old, I used to love colouring in and my favourite thing was to learn the names of my Crayola crayons. My favourites were Periwinkle Green and Cornflower Blue.

How would you describe the style of your work?

I find it difficult to put what I paint into words. I guess the easiest way to describe my art is to play the music that I listed to while painting it. I am a lyric kinda girl, and I listen specifically to music that I relate to while I paint, music that triggers a memory, or feeling... it's like stepping back into a moment, and then I paint that. My work is very emotionally based.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

Unfortunately I don't own a pencil case, I am kind of a messy artist.. I like to have my art supplies in a chaotic state of affairs. I also like to get half of the paint on myself while I am working. My favourite tools are my brushes and my easel, they are both well worn.

Who is your favorite superhero?

I have to say Super Grover. This is purely based on the fact that I have always nick named my husband Grover (his laugh is identical), and my husband LOVES Superman. The best of both worlds, plus Grover just rocks!!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

To save all the pound puppies. I am a DOG person through and through, I just love them!! And if I could rescue them all I would. That also goes for cows, sheep, piggies, bees, ants and then more doggies.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Music and my life experiences. These are the two biggest inspirations in my work. At the moment I listen to a lot of Modest Mouse.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

I know it's going to sound a little typical but I do really love Picasso, he is like my Jeff Buckley in the art world. It could have been his arrogance, or cocky nature, but I cried when I saw my first Picasso at a museum so I am pretty sure that it is just his art. I don't know why.
Monet and Van Gogh and an Australian artist named Kathryn Del Barton also take my breath away. I am learning though that the more art that I see the more artists that I fall in love with.
