Learn how-to bake a Blueberry, Carrot And Apple Cake, Quesadilla Cubano and Strawberry & Green Olive Piquant Salad with Rainbow Cafe, Cambridge.

How did you get started?

From living in Europe and travelling the world as a Club DJ and recipe gatherer, I discovered the connection between food and health

Where are you located?

Opposite Kings College Cambridge, twirl around and you will see a passageway with an area lined with flowers, and at night, fairy lights. Thats Rainbow !

What are your specialities?

Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten free food, specialising in food intolerances Sometimes people come to us with a list of things they can't have. We haven't failed yet !

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

Artichoke Filo Parcel. It has no garlic or onions which many customers don't want for religious reasons, it's vegan too !

What's on the stereo?

My husband makes IPod mixes with a lot of Beatles, Doors, and Motown, and lots of 60's and seventies music. Personally I love the Stylistics.

Where else should we visit in your area?

Many places of interest, but the Fitzwilliam Museum principally.

In the area, the Imperial War Museum. A lot of of people have worked very very hard to create a place to remember why we are free today, and can say all the rude things we like about other people on twitter and not disappear without trace. (I do not use twitter)

Do you host any special events?

Rainbow is way too tiny to do events.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

Every January I say to my husband of 30 years, 'I wonder what we'll get this year'
2014 we were runners up in the Observer Food Awards in 2 categories - Best Ethical Restaurant and Best Cheap Eats. Shortlisted in the Cafe Society Innovations, and Finalist in the Food Awards. This was a glittering Ceremony in Manchester and we met so many lovely people ! We have also won various Local awards.

Pretty good for a tiny basement restaurant that isn't in London !

Do you have a favorite cafe, restaurant or bar in your town that we should feature? Send us a message!
